Traffic Alert

S 56th Place Closure Extended - July 10-13

S 56th Place will be closed from south of Vancouver Clinic to north of S 6th Way on Monday, July 10 through Thursday, July 13 during the day, 8AM-6PM.

This closure has been extended from its original duration because the contractor discovered more substantial repair is needed to the underground stormwater pipe than was originally anticipated. This work requires extended time in a trench and in order to keep workers and the public safe the road must be closed during construction. We understand this closure impacts truck deliveries and have requested the contractor to move back start time to 8AM and reopen at 6PM each evening to allow for morning deliveries. The detour is clearly signed and will continue to be in place until the work is complete.

Detour route around the closure is available via Pioneer, Royle, Wells Dr and Timm Rd. No business entrances are impacted. The road will be open during evenings.

This closure is necessary to allow Clark Regional Wastewater District to prepare to install a new sewer main and service entrances underneath S 56th Place. This work is part of a project partnership with the City of Ridgefield, Port of Ridgefield, and Clark Regional Wastewater consisting of upgrading a sewer line, maintaining a stormwater facility, and building a new pedestrian trail.

Ongoing Traffic Impacts

S Royle Road, S 3rd Way to S 15th Street - June 21 - July 14: Clark Public Utilities will be conducting shoulder and single lane closures along South Royle Road between 3rd Way and 15th Street June 21 through July 14.

S Union Ridge Parkway: No Parking on Union Ridge Parkway immediately north of S 5th Street during construction work for the Pioneer Street Extension Project. The contractor is using the area for staging.

Nearby Interstate Traffic Impacts:

I-5 NB/SB - North Fork Lewis River Bridge - Bridge Deck Repair & Overlay: In summer 2023, Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) contractor crews will begin work to improve the northbound I-5 North Fork Lewis River Bridge deck, just south of Woodland, Washington. Work on the bridge will include deck repairs, placement of a polyester concrete overlay, expansion joint modifications, and new joint seals.

I-5/I-205 - Concrete Panel Replacement and Joint Rehabilitation: In summer 2022 and 2023, WSDOT's contractor, Granite Construction, will work to replace roughly 100 concrete panels along both directions of I-205 between the Glenn Jackson Bridge near the SR 14 interchange and the I-5/I-205 split and along southbound I-5 between Northeast 179th Street and the I-5/I-205 split.

During construction, travelers on both I-5 and I-205 will encounter nighttime single and double lane closures, ramp closures and temporary speed limit reductions at the following locations:

  • Southbound I-5, between Northeast 199th Street and the SR 502 overpass - 55 mph
  • Southbound I-5, between the SR 502 overpass to just north of Northeast 179th Street - 45 mph
  • Both directions of I-205, between the Glenn Jackson Bridge and the I-5/I-205 split - 45 mph
