Pioneer Street Update

The November 1-11 Pioneer Street closure was a success. The large culvert has been installed and Pioneer Street was fully re-opened to traffic on Monday afternoon.

With the installation culverts 1 and 3 complete, we’ve reached a major milestone in this complex project. The contractor’s focus will now shift to widening Pioneer Street, easing the traffic impacts on Ridgefield drivers for the next stage of the project. The temporary signal at 53rd Place has been removed, and traffic barricades have been placed along the center of Pioneer to enforce the no-left-turn policy. The road shift on Pioneer between Royle and 50th Place will remain in place for a few more weeks, but will be back in normal alignment before the end of the year.

Traffic Alerts

S 21st Place, S 4th Way, S 25th Place - November 11 - November 22: A single lane closure will be in effect on Tuesday, November 11 through Friday, November 22 from 8 AM - 6 PM to allow contractors to complete prep work asphalt.

Pioneer Widening and Discovery Drive Roundabout: Pioneer Street is OPEN. Intermittent flagging and work zone speed limit of 25 mph in effect on Pioneer Street between Royle Road and 56th Place for the Pioneer Widening and Discovery Drive Roundabout project. Expect short delays. Fines double in work zones.

Discovery Drive: Intermittent daytime road closures on Discovery Drive between Pioneer Street and Pioneer Canyon Drive. Please follow the direction of traffic flaggers. The contractor is limiting closures as much as possible to the least disruptive times.

Drivers looking to avoid the construction zone on Pioneer Street may want to consider alternative routes, including traveling from Royle Road to 56th Place on S Wells Drive/11th Street.
