May Council Action Highlights
Parking Prohibited in Front of U.S Mailboxes
At the regular City Council meeting on Thursday, May 8 Council adopted Ordinance No. 1453 - Amendment to RMC 10.12 Parking, New Section to Prohibit Parking in Front Of or Within 10 Feet of U.S. Mailboxes.
In many Ridgefield neighborhoods, there are issues with parked vehicles blocking community mailboxes. The ordinance amends the parking code to prohibit parking in front or within 10 feet of mailboxes at all times. The City will provide free sticker signs by request for community mailboxes.
Approval of Water Conservation Strategy
Ridgefield City Council discussed the Water Conservation Strategy during the regular meetings on May 8 and May 22. On May 22, they approved the Water Conservation Strategy.
Ridgefield's Water Conservation Strategy is a plan tailored to reduce the seasonal peaks of water demand through a series of customer and City actions triggered by supply and demand parameters. The plan consists of 5 distinct phases with increasing recommendations designed to decrease water demand during high demand periods.
More information about the plan will be coming out over the next several weeks. Review the Water Conservation Strategy.
City Council Liaison Appointments to Outside Committees and Boards
On May 22, City Council confirmed Council liaison assignments. City Councilors may be appointed as liaisons to City ad hoc committees, outside committees or boards, community organizations, and/or special districts. A liaison acts as a representative of the full Council. Liaison duties involve keeping current with the group by attending meetings and conferring with members, and keeping Council informed on the work of the organization. View assignments.
