Ridgefield Traffic Impacts

This newsletter provides the most up-to-date information about road construction in the City limits and traffic impacts caused by these projects:

Paving Closures on Pioneer Street - September 23, 24 and 25

Starting Tuesday, September 23, the city’s contractor will be completing top lift paving on the Pioneer Widening Project. There are three closure events scheduled to complete this work:

Tuesday, September 23, 3 AM to 3 PM: Westbound Pioneer Street will be closed between Royle Road and 56th Place. Access will be maintained to iQ Credit Union, Mountain View Dental and Ridgefield Physical Therapy via N 56th Place and Pioneer Canyon Drive. Westbound Pioneer will re-open by 3 PM for the afternoon commute. View Closure and Detour Map
Wednesday, September 24, 10 AM: Eastbound Pioneer Street will be closed between Royle Road and 56th Place from 10 AM Wednesday to 5 AM Thursday 9/25. View Closure and Detour Map
Wednesday, September 24, 8 PM: Both lanes of Pioneer Street will be closed between Royle Road and 56th Place from 8 PM Wednesday, 9/24 to 5 AM Thursday, 9/25. View Closure and Detour Map

During closures, travelers are encouraged to use the designated detour route, via S Royle Road, Wells Drive, Timm Road, S 6th Way and S 56th Place, or another alternative route.

Business access to Mountain View Dental, Ridgefield Physical Therapy and iQ Credit Union will remain available via Pioneer Canyon Drive. There will be no changes to the 56th Place and Pioneer roundabout during these closures.

After the closures, the traffic pattern will return to one lane open in either direction, with N 53rd Place closed at Pioneer Street and Discovery Drive open.

This is a significant step in the project, and we are excited to be at this point. After this closure, work will continue to install streetlights, landscaping and striping. Once those items are in place, we’ll be able to open up the new roundabout and four lanes on Pioneer.

Union Ridge Parkway and S 5th Street - September 24: The left turn lane on southbound Union Ridge Parkway at S 5th Street will be closed on Wednesday, September 24 from 9 AM to 1 PM to allow a City Public Works crew to repair a manhole in the intersection. The intersection will be in a 4-way flash during work hours.

N 10th Street - September 1 - October 31: N 10th Street closed to through traffic between N 65th Ave and N 85th Ave September 1 to October 31 to allow a contractor to complete sewer installation for the new Ridgefield School District Elementary School. Residents will maintain access to driveways.

NW Carty Road, east of NW 30th Court - August 27 - September 30: Single lane closure will be in effect starting Wednesday, August 27 through Tuesday, September 30 to allow tree cutting and access grading for a sanitary sewer install.

S 21st Place and S 4th Way - September 10 - 30: Single lane closures will be in effect Wednesday, September 10 - Tuesday, September 30 on S 21st Place and S 4th Way to allow the contractors to pour curb and pave for the Ridgefield Heights subdivision.

N 53rd Place at Pioneer Street – CLOSED – September 15- September 29: N 53rd Place CLOSED at Pioneer Street from Monday, September 15 through Monday, September 29 to allow the city’s contractor to complete sidewalks, splitter island and additional work related to the Pioneer Widening Project. Business access to Mountain View Dental, Ridgefield Physical Therapy and iQ Credit Union will remain available via Pioneer Canyon Drive. The driveway from Pioneer Street to the business parking lot will be closed.

279th Street between NE 10th Avenue and NE 16th Ave - CLOSED - September 22 - November 22: A full road closure will be effect on Monday, September 22 through Saturday, November 22 on 279th Street between NE 10th Avenue and NE 16th Avenue to allow contractors to complete sewer line installation associated with the Greely Farms development. A temporary gravel detour road is in place to maintain access to residences during the closure. This closure will shift east on 279th Street later in the closure period, the same detour will be in place. View map (PDF)

56th Place and Pioneer Street Roundabout - August 11 - Fall 2025: Designated right-turn lane from westbound Pioneer Street onto N 56th Place and temporarily closure of the northbound exit of the 56th Place and Pioneer Street roundabout. These changes will remain in place until Fall 2025 when there are two lanes open in each direction through the Pioneer Widening project. View map (PDF)
