Ridgefield Traffic Impacts

This newsletter provides the most up-to-date information about road construction in the City limits and traffic impacts caused by these projects.

Pioneer Widening Project

Pioneer Street - Wednesday 10/8 and Thursday 10/9: Flagging with up to 15-minute delays will be in place throughout the project area on Wednesday, October 8 (10 AM to 3 PM) and Thursday, October 9 (9 AM to 3 PM) to complete striping at the Discovery Drive and Pioneer Street roundabout, and any remaining symbols throughout the project. All striping work is weather dependent and subject to change, a ground temperature of 50 degrees and rising is required. Please be patient and pay close attention to signage when traveling through the area this week.

After striping, the contractor will need to continue to keep one lane in either direction closed through the month to complete concrete work, landscaping, streetlights and other project finish work. The new roundabout at Discovery Drive and Pioneer Street will continue to be used as through lanes until the center area is no longer a work zone.

N 53rd Place at Pioneer Street – CLOSED: N 53rd Place CLOSED at Pioneer Street to allow the city’s contractor to complete sidewalks, splitter island and additional work related to the Pioneer Widening Project. Business access to Mountain View Dental, Ridgefield Physical Therapy and iQ Credit Union will remain available at all times. The driveway from Pioneer Street to the business parking lot will be closed.

  • The city's contractor may alternate closures between 53rd Place and Discovery Drive over the next couple weeks as work requires, in order to maintain two access routes between Pioneer Street and the businesses at all times. Local signage will be adjusted to reflect the current access at all times.

Other Traffic Impacts

The closure will remain in place after the concrete is poured to allow the curb to properly set and prevent damage from vehicles turning the corner too tightly.

S 21st Place and S 4th Way - through October 31: Single lane closures will be in effect through October 31 on S 21st Place and S 4th Way to allow the contractors to pour curb and pave for the Ridgefield Heights subdivision.
