City News Posted on July 17, 2024

2024 Pavement Preservation work continues next week with a City contractor applying Slurry Seal in several neighborhoods. The contractor will be distributing door hangers to affected residents this weekend.

!! Work scheduled for Monday, July 29 has been rescheduled for Thursday, August 1 due to rain. !!

Streets must be cleared of all vehicles and personal property on the day of work. Streets will be closed while the contractor is completing the work. Work will be completed July 24, 25, 26 and 29. Please see 2024 Slurry Seal Treatment Maps (PDF) for schedule by street. Residents should expect roads to be closed 7 AM - 5 PM.

Slurry Seal is a process of applying a protective sealant coat to asphalt to extend the life of a road. In Ridgefield, this treatment is used on local residential streets and is applied after cracks have been treated with Crack Seal. Streets in Ridgefield are monitored and rated on the Pavement Conditions Index (PCI). Ridgefield aims to maintain an average rating of about 80 (Very Good). Each year, streets are selected based on how we can utilize available funding to make the biggest impact.
