The process to appoint a new council member to Position 6 on Ridgefield City Council is moving forward. The next step is a Town Hall Public Forum on Thursday, October 3, from 6 to 7 PM.
City Council Position 6 became vacant following the resignation of Jennifer Lindsay, effective August 23, 2024. In accordance with Washington state law, the City Council must appoint a qualified individual to fill the vacancy within 90 days. The appointee’s term will expire in 2025.
Applications were accepted August 23 through September 11, and included a questionnaire, letter of interest, and a resume. After reviewing the applications, the Council has selected two candidates, Rian Davis and Darcy Rourk, to advance to the next stage of the appointment process.
The upcoming public forum will introduce these candidates to the community and provide an opportunity for them to share their ideas and vision for Ridgefield. Residents are encouraged to attend and participate in this important event, which will be held in the Columbia Assembly Room at the Ridgefield Administrative and Civic Center, located at 510 Pioneer Street.
Ridgefield community members are invited to participate in the Council appointment process by:
- Providing questions for use during the Town Hall Public Forum. Questions may be submitted online at www.RidgefieldRoundtable.org. Deadline to submit questions before the Public Forum is 4:30 PM on September 30.
- Attending the Town Hall Public Forum on October 3, asking questions during the Public Forum and providing observations about the candidates to City Council via email. The Public Forum can be attended in person, or online via Zoom. Observations may be submitted to City Council by emailing the City Clerk, City.Clerk@RidgefieldWa.us, after the forum.
- Observing the interviews during City Council Study Session at 5:30 PM on October 10 and, if desired, providing public comment to Council regarding the candidates prior to appointment.
