Property Tax

Property taxes for the City of Ridgefield are currently $0.6492/$1,000 of assessed value for 2023. The property taxes are assessed by the Clark County Assessor's Office and collected by the Clark County Treasurer. Property tax revenues are then distributed to the City and other governments as appropriate. Sales Tax

All sales in the City of Ridgefield are subject to a sales tax rate of 8.7% as of January 1, 2023. This tax is charged on all sales that occur within the City limits. The tax supports the State of Washington with 6.5%, the City with 1% (16% of this 1% is retained by the State as an administrative fee), 0.2% is allocated to the City of Ridgefield Transportation Benefit District for pavement preservation, 0.2% is allocated to law and justice efforts, 0.1% for mental health programs run by the County, and the remainder 0.7% is provided to CTRAN for transit purposes. Sales and use taxes are collected by the State Department of Revenue and distributed back to the appropriate local government. Utility Tax

Utility taxes are imposed on utility businesses. The business activities affected by this tax are telephone, cellular, gas, and electric with a rate of 6%. City-operated water utilities are subject to a utility tax of 8%. The City receives a 5% franchise fee on cable and a 10% franchise fee on garbage. There is no tax on the storm water utility. The City also receives a sewer operating fee of 10%.
