At their meeting on Thursday, October 10, Ridgefield City Council appointed Rian Davis to fill a mid-term vacancy after a rigorous and competitive process that included a detailed application, public forum, multiple opportunities for public input and interviews with City Council. Council thanked both candidates for their time in this vacancy appointment process, their care and commitment to Ridgefield and for stepping up to this important role.
Council member Davis is an 8th grade history and language arts teacher and coaches middle school cross country and high school swim. He has volunteered on the Ridgefield Parks Board since 2018, serving as chair since January 2023. Davis has also spent time on his HOA Board, serving as Ridgefield representative on the Clark County Mosquito Control District Board of Trustees, and been active in Ridgefield Little League as a coach and Board member. When asked why he was interested in serving on City Council Davis wrote on his application, “My desire to serve on the Ridgefield City Council is driven by maintaining and growing the community culture that makes our city special.”
Position 6 was vacated earlier this year when Mayor Pro Tem Jennifer Lindsay resigned her position.
Applications for appointment opened August 23 and closed September 11. Selected applicants participated in a public forum where they answered questions submitted by Ridgefield residents on Thursday, October 3. Finally, at their meeting on Thursday, October 10 the City Council conducted interviews, listened to public comment on the candidates, and appointed Rian Davis to Position 6. Davis subsequently took the Oath of Office and attended the regular Council meeting. The term for Position 6 will expire in 2025.
Welcome to City Council Rian!
Audio recordings of the Council interviews and appointment will be available next week on the City website. The recording of the October 3 Public Forum is available now on the City Council Audio page.
