On March 28, the City of Ridgefield was recognized for its 2024 budget.

The City of Ridgefield is proud to to receive the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the 2024 budget. This is the seventh year that the City has earned this award.

The award represents a significant achievement by the City of Ridgefield. It reflects the continuing commitment of the Finance Department, Executive Staff, and City Council to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive this award, the City had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as:

  • a policy document
  • a financial plan
  • an operations guide
  • a communications device

Budget documents are evaluated by a panel of independent reviewers and must be rated "proficient" in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories to receive the award.

Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 22,500 members and the communities they serve.
