[ARCHIVED] Ridgefield Police Investigating Juvenile Incident with Damage to Residence

Ridgefield Police Department Logo

On Tuesday August 15th, 2023, at approximately 3:00 AM, the Ridgefield Police Department responded to a report of a prowler in progress at a residence in the Cedar Ridge neighborhood. Officers arrived at the residence at 3:06 AM and conducted a search for the subjects, but the individuals involved had already left the scene.  Officers interviewed the residents and reviewed the doorbell camera footage as part of their investigation.

Our investigation has led us to believe this incident stems from a dispute among teenagers. This was not a home invasion attempt, rather it seems to be linked to a previous conflict involving a group of juveniles.

We want to reassure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident and no similar reports have been reported in the Ridgefield area.  Our preliminary investigation strongly suggests this was a targeted act related to a specific disagreement among teenagers and that the house involved, was targeted in error.

The Ridgefield Police Department has received valuable tips from the community aiding in the possible identification of the individual seen in the camera footage.  The department is actively conducting further investigation to determine the identities of those involved.

We are grateful for the ongoing support and cooperation from the community as we work to investigate this matter.

Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Police Department’s non-emergency line at (360)887-3556.
