[ARCHIVED] Transportation Improvements Coming between Royle Road and Interstate 5

Changes are coming to Ridgefield’s main entrance in 2024.

A group of transportation infrastructure improvement projects will be constructed this year between I-5 and Royle Road to prepare for expected traffic to planned commercial development in the area.

Several of the projects will be completed by the private developers building in the area, directly paying for the increased infrastructure needs their projects will create. All of the projects will be completed before planned new businesses open.

The Developer constructed projects will include construction of N 56th Avenue, N 53rd Avenue, the eastern leg of Pioneer Canyon Drive, a new roundabout at N 56th Ave and Pioneer Canyon Drive, adding lane capacity to the Interstate-5 off-ramps and constructing a turn lane and other improvements on the westbound lane of Pioneer Street between I-5 and 56th Avenue.

The City projects will include widening Pioneer Street to a four-lane section from Rosauers to the 56th Place roundabout, construction of a new roundabout at 50th Avenue, construction of N 50th Avenue, and a short western leg of Pioneer Canyon Drive at 50th Avenue.

The result of these projects will be a four-lane roadway along Pioneer Street from just west of Royle Road to I-5, and a new east-west collector roadway (Pioneer Canyon Drive) connecting 50th Avenue to an extension of 56th Avenue.
